Hier findet ihr, die Rede die von Aktiven aus der Kampagne „Eine Stadt für alle! Wem gehört die ABG?“ auf der „Project.Shelter“-Demonstration am Samstag den 13. Juni 2015 gehalten wurde.

Die Kampagne „Eine Stadt für Alle! Wem gehört die ABG?“ solidarisiert sich mit dieser Demo und der Forderung nach einem selbstverwalteten Zentrum von und für Refugees und Migrant*innen.
Warum halten wir hier vor der neuen ABG-Zentrale? Welche Forderungen richten wir an und gegen die städtische Politik und die stadt-eigene Wohnungsbaugesellschaft ABG?
Erstens: Die ABG muss bezahlbaren Wohnraum zur Verfügung stellen, für Menschen, die sich Frankfurt nicht leisten können. Also zum Beispiel für Erzieherinnen und Erzieher, Küchenpersonal und Hausmeister, Menschen, die auf Hartz IV angewiesen sind, oder Studierende ohne reiche Eltern. Wir fordern eine Miete, für die wir nicht 40 Prozent und mehr unseres Einkommens ausgeben müssen. Eine bezahlbare Miete zu garantieren wäre die Aufgabe einer Wohnungsbaugesellschaft in Öffentlicher Hand, die sich im Auftrag der Menschen engagiert, und nicht wie ein x-beliebiger Immobilieninvestor handelt. Stadt und ABG haben aber leider ganz andere Pläne – und das ganz öffentlich!
Zweitens fordern wir: Die ABG muss der Ausgrenzung und Verdrängung von Menschen aktiv entgegenarbeiten. Sie muss Politik für gesellschaftlich marginalisierte Gruppen machen, zum Beispiel zugunsten der in Frankfurt lebenden Refugees. Die Wohnbedürfnisse von Menschen, die von rassistischer Ausgrenzung und Armut betroffen sind, müssen mit Priorität berücksichtigt werden!
In Frankfurt stehen 2 Millionen Quadratmeter Immobilienfläche leer. Das ist mehr als die Fläche der ganzen Innenstadt! Bei unserer Demo kommen wir an zahlreichen, (noch!) leerstehenden Gebäuden vorbei. Viele dieser Gebäude, auch große Bürokomplexe, stehen seit Jahren leer, verrotten. Anstatt diesen Leerstand effektiv zu nutzen, wie zum Beispiel für ein Projekt Shelter, werden teure Appartements für das luxuriöse „Leben am Fluss“ mit großen Garagen für teure Autos gebaut. Und die Stadtregierung behauptet allen Ernstes, damit würden sie unsere Raumprobleme lösen wollen. So ein Quatsch!
Die ABG ist mit mehr als 50.000 Wohnungen der größte Akteur auf dem Markt für Mietwohnungen in Frankfurt und der Region. „Aktienbaugesellschaft für kleine Wohnungen“ – mit diesem Namen wurde die ABG vor 125 Jahren gegründet, um den Problemen auf dem Frankfurter Wohnungsmarkt zu begegnen. Heute ist die ABG, ganz im Sinne der städtischen Regierung, ein Big Player im profitablen Geschäft mit Luxusimmobilien. Ein Beispiel: ein Großprojekt der ABG im Gallus nennt sich „Belvivo“. Es verspricht bei einem Mietpreis von 15.- Euro pro Quadratmeter „italienisches Flair“ für diejenigen, die sich dieses Frankfurt leisten können.
Wir wollen aber ein ganz anderes Frankfurt – und eine ganz andere ABG. Die Notwendigkeit, Wohnraum jenseits der Marktlogik bereitzustellen, besteht heute genau wie vor 125 Jahren. Auch heute finden Menschen mit geringem Einkommen keine Wohnung. Menschen werden zwangsweise aus ihren Wohnungen vertrieben. Menschen leben in Obdachlosigkeit und schlafen in der reichen Finanzmetropole unter Brücken. Gegen diese traurige Realität gibt es gute Vorschläge für konkrete Projekte. Eines davon ist das Project Shelter. Wir stehen voll dahinter. Es wird aber nur dann Realität, wenn es nicht beim Appell bleibt. Für gemeinsame Demonstrationen, Proteste und Aktionen. Gemeinsam für ein Project Shelter!
The campaign „one city for everyone! To whom belongs the ABD?“ solidarizes with this demonstration and the demand for a self-governed center for refugees and migrants.
Why do we stop here in front of the ABG head office? What are our demands from and against the municipal politics and the city-owned company for housing supply?
Firstly: The ABG must provide affordable living space for people who can hardly afford life in Frankfurt. For example for child care workers, kitchen staff and maintenance men, people depending upon social contributions or students without rich parents. We demand a rent without having to spend forty percent or more of our income for it. To guarantee an affordable rent would be the duty of a company for housing supply in the public sector, which engages in favor of the people, which doesnt’t act like a greedy estate investor. Unfortunately these are neither the plans of the city council nor the ABG.
Our second demand: The ABG has to actively counteract against the exclusion and the displacement of people. It must do politics in favor of socially marginalized groups, for example refugees living in Frankfurt. The housing needs of people concerned by racist exclusion and poverty must be respected with utmost priority.
In Frankfurt there are 2 million square meters of vacant real estate. This is equal to more than the central city area. On our demonstration route we will be passing by several vacant buildings. Many of those, even the large office blocks are deteriorating and vacant for years. Instead of using that space effectively, for example Project Shelter, expansive apartments with huge garages are built close to the river. And the city council seriously claims that thereby they want to solve our housing problems? This is ridiculous!
The ABG is the biggest player on the rental market with over fifty thousand rented flats in Frankfurt. A 125 years ago it was founded with the name „public limited company for small flats“ to face the problems on the Frankfurt housing market. Today the ABG, in line with the city councils goals, engages in the profitable business with luxury rental estate. To give you one example: A large-scale project at the Gallus is called „Belvivo“. It promises Italian flair at a rental price of 15 Euro per square meter – For those who can afford that in Frankfurt.
But we want an entirely different Frankfurt – and an entirely different ABG. The need for the supply of housing space beyond the logic of markets is still the same as 125 years ago. Even Nowadays people with low income don’t find a flat. In this rich finance metropolis people are evicted from their homes by force. People are homeless and sleep under bridges. Against this sad reality there do exist proposols for concrete projects. One of these is Project Shelter. We support it wholeheartedly. however it will only come into existence if we do not stop by demanding. For joint demonstrations, protests and actions! Together for Project Shelter!
